Day Trip: Marrakech To Ait Benhaddou Kasbah

In this not-to-miss day trip, we take you from Marrakech through the Atlas Mountains, passing by the road of Tizi n'Tichka, the highest road pass in Africa (at 2260 meters above the sea level). You'll see some awe inspiring Moroccan clay architecture along the caravan route and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait ben Haddou. You'll also get to experience Berber villages, an ancient palace, breathtaking panoramic viewpoints, walking tours and pop-culture, tea with locals and lunch while on the trip.

Along the way from Marrakech to Ait Ben Haddou, you will be fascinated by the wonders and the panoramic views of the isolated Berber villages in the mountains.

Morocco has many natural historical and modern sites to enjoy:

After the Tizi n'Tichka pass, we venture off the main road and take a side track into the Telouat Kasbah, the ancient palace of Pacha El Glaoui. Then we will continue traveling 40kilometers to arrive in Kasbah Ait Benhadou. Breathtaking views over the Valley of Ounila will make you fall in love with Morocco. Be sure to pack your camera, batteries and a portable charger for your cell phone. You won't want to miss a photo!

The areas we will visit have been the filming sites for movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth and Gladiator.

During our Day Trip, we will have a delicious lunch at a restaurant in Ouarzazate and then take a walk around town to discover authentic Moroccan experiences, tour Taourirt Kasbah, a beautiful clay residence complex. All trips to this region of Morocco should include a visit to the cinema studios of Ouarzazate, which are like the Hollywood of Africa.

To round out the day and before beginning our journey back to Marrakech, we will enjoy a lovely cup of Moroccan tea with one of the locals of the ksar Ait Ben Haddou, where few families are still living. If we are fortunate, we will get to see the sunset while on our route through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass on the way back.
